The owner behind each Tim Hortons

Almost every Tim Hortons is run by a local restaurant owner, not by the head office. The owner sets your schedule, pay and perks, and a large owner may run several restaurants in the same town.

☕

Front counter

Takes orders, pours coffee and hands over trays in the dining room.

🚗

Drive-thru

Wears a headset, calls orders to the line and works the window.

🥯

Sandwich and kitchen line

Toasts bagels, builds wraps and keeps soups and chili topped up.

🍩

Overnight baking

Finishes donuts and muffins so the racks are full at dawn.

🧽

Cleaning and maintenance

Deep-cleans floors, washrooms and equipment after the rush.

📋

Shift leadership

Runs the floor, counts the cash and trains new crew members.

Tim Hortons pay by position

Crew wages normally begin at the provincial minimum, so they differ between provinces. Supervisor and manager postings list their rates, and these four are taken from actual ads.

Tims role Advertised rate

💡 Ask the owner what comes with the uniform: perks are set restaurant by restaurant, so two Tims on the same street can offer different discounts, benefits and raises.

Perks that Tim Hortons owners offer

Each owner builds a package, but staff and owners’ hiring pages mention the same core extras. Health and dental usually go to qualifying staff, often those on steady full-time hours.

☕ Free drinks on shift and discounted food while you work, with half off reported by many crew members.
🩺 Health and dental plans at many multi-restaurant owners, for employees who qualify.
🎓 Team Tim Hortons Scholarship Program for crew members heading to college or university.
📈 Paid training and promotion from team member to supervisor, manager or a head office role.

How a Tims restaurant fills its schedule

01

Pick your nearest Tims

Find openings near you and apply online, often from your phone.

02

Quick screening

A few questions about your availability and any food service work.

03

Meet the manager

A short face-to-face interview, sometimes on the same day.

04

Learning each station

You learn each station next to an experienced crew member.

Most owners hire crew at 16 and up, some take younger teens where provincial rules allow, and supervisors are usually 18 or older. You need to be legally able to work in Canada and show proof of age.

⚠️ The morning rush does not slow down: from about 6 to 9 a.m. the drive-thru line rarely stops, and overnight crews work while most people sleep. If you want calmer hours, ask about mid-afternoon shifts.

Hiring tied to the Tims building program

Owners and the company are putting about $400 million into the building program. Ontario leads with 26 new restaurants and 188 renovations, and new locations hire their whole crew before opening.
