What electronics retailers pay in four provinces
On the sales floor, most stores start new staff at the provincial minimum. The technician bench is where pay climbs, because few applicants can troubleshoot a dead laptop.

When electronics stores add seasonal staff
Holiday postings open in the fall, when stores staff up for the biggest sales of the year.
Best Buy’s seasonal ads ask for Friday nights and weekends, plus Black Friday, the day before Christmas and the whole of Boxing Week. Those contracts run out with the year.

Is deep tech knowledge required?
Not for a floor or warehouse job. Stores train new staff on the products, and Memory Express says all training is provided for its receivers. Technician roles do ask for hands-on repair skills.
Can students work part-time around classes?
Yes. Evening and weekend shifts are what stores struggle to fill, so being free at those times often counts for more than past experience.
Is there commission on top of the hourly wage?
At some chains. Visions and Best Buy Express both advertise commission on sales; at Best Buy, floor staff earn an hourly wage.
